Tuesday Teamster Airline Division Director Don Treichler issued a letter to Continental Airlines CEO Larry Kellner notifying him about the Teamsters interest in the potential airline mergers between Continental Airlines-United Airlines and Delta Airlines-Northwest Airlines.

As all are fully aware, there are reports of a possible merger between Continental Airlines and United Airlines. In an effort to be proactive, Don Treichler, Director of the I.B.T. Airline Division wrote a letter to Larry Kellner on February 12, 2008 advising him of what the I.B.T. expects of Continental Airlines if in fact there is a merger. Jeff Wall, on behalf of Larry Kellner, contacted Director Treichler yesterday morning to advise that, should merger activities develop at the airline, management would follow the negotiated Scope language explicitly. Director Treichler advised Jeff that we expected proactive action on management's part to ensure that our mechanics and related are protected.
