There have been 2 problems with the votes cast by CAL IBT members in the past years.
Once there were a few hundred ballots that "GOT LOST"(IBT's excuse) in the mail.
The other was late printed ballots and incorrectly labeled ballots that went uncounted.
Both instances raised concerns that there be new procedures for voting at CAL.
Concern:
After the latest fiasco I made attempts to get the ball rolling on a new voting procedure for CAL
I talked to my local IBT business rep about my concerns. I asked that my concerns be forwarded to
Don Treichler Division Director. I was told that there was new procedures being drawn up. This was in April/May 2005.
I just contacted my Business agent about this issue again to see what progress was made in the last 4 months.
The business agent hadn't heard anything so he sent a message to Don asking him.
Don's response was
I have written a voting SOP based on our experiences and the HQs decisions and that now needs to be run through the headquarters for approval.
Now These are my concerns:
How can he write something and submit it for approval when his locals and more importantly the members that had the problem with the procedures haven't even seen the proposals and given him feedback?
In all the concerns I have been involved with this man they all inevitably end up being...HIS WAY with no input from other members or even local leadership input.
I must say this sounds like a real dictatorship run organization.
Has anyone in local 759 been kept in the loop about the proposed changes?
If none of the locals that complained about voting procedures have been informed about a SOP how does DON know it's what is needed and what will work for the members?
