Whatever you call it, it's something we should all watch out for and voice our opinions on to our legislators. director.gif

I'm in the process of posting a area with "everything you wanted to know" about this topic. Starting with the statements that were made during the hearing that occurred on Jan 9, 2003.

Many major airlines have their lobbyists in Washington, D.C. working around the clock to pressure congress on S.B. 1327. A site that can be very helpful in communicating with your elected officials can be found on http://capitoladvantage.com/h2/ .

If you take the time to write/e-mail your elected officials and state your opposition to this legislation, it will send them a clear message. Remember, S.B. 1327 affects all airline employee's collective bargaining rights.

There was yet another article talking about this issue. You can view it HERE .

I would also like to mention this tidbit I ran across from Gordon Bethune, CEO of Continental Airlines.

Quote:
I was also in Washington, D.C., where I met with Senator Trent Lott, who is the new Chairman of Aviation Subcommittee in the Senate. Later on I met with our new Texas Senator John Cornyn, who expressed his appreciation for all of your support and pledges his support for us in the U.S. Senate in his new term. I also met with Senator Mike DeWine from Ohio who has been a long-time friend and supporter of Continental. I also had a chance to visit with the new Texas Representative John Carter, and it was wonderful to meet with him. The Washington Delegation from our state, Cleveland, New York, and certainly in Texas are all very much behind us, and concerned as we go forward during these difficult times.

With all that's going on with the Airlines trying to make money I know if I were a CEO and this legislation was going to save me MILLIONS of dollars I would be pushing it. As a note, Continentals pilots are up for contract negotiation right NOW!

As did Planedoctor I too have researched "Baseball Arbitration". This is a BIG problem for the employee's of the aviation industry. The only thing that I can say at this point is write your congressman so that there will be no support in our government for this bill. Unionized or not you will lose your ability to have any say. I think what scares me the most is what will happen after this what other bills will government and corperate America think up next. This must be squashed. It is not helping that we have an Association (AMFA) out there representing mechanics and agreeing to use this process at Alaska Airlines. They must be stoped.
