I would like to know from some of the AA guys what their feeling is about in-house maintance.

Since AA is the last legacy airline to continue to provide over 50% of their maintenance in-house how do you guys feel?

Do you think AA will hold out when the rest of the airlines have went the outsourcing trail?

There was talk AA was going to push maintenance as a money making department by bringing in work from other airlines. Have you seen that happening?

I strongly feel the traveling public would feel more comfortable knowing the aircraft they are flying on was worked on my that airline employees rather then some 3rd party outfit only looking for the ETR and cheapest cost per check.

What's your feelings 2handball.gif

I think the woked carried out at AA heavy maintenance is superior and better value to services available in China etc...as for the new contracts, at LHR we have taken on 3 new maintenance contracts in the last two weeks.......bring on the overtime!!! anim_bounce.gif

AA does about 82%-84% of Mx in house, and is stepping up it's MRO division. At SFO alone contract work netted over 4.2 mil in revenue in 2007, and is the main factor in recent recalls. While other carriers are outsourcing, AA is insourcing, and I commend them for that.
