Today in Aviation History
1997
A Comair Embraer 120 Brasilia crashed while on approach to Detroit Metropolitan Airport. The crew was instructed to slow to 170 knots by Air Traffic Control and complied. This speed was below the stall speed of the aircraft in icing conditions, and the plane entered a spin and impacted the ground. All 29 on board were killed.

When you get to the CNN web site look for the search icon and next to it will say "The web" and the other will say "CNN.com" Click on that and type in "Airport worker killed by exploding tire" and it should pull up.
Let me know if you still cannot find it?

Got it!

Quote:
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- A jetway tire exploded while being repaired, killing a maintenance worker at Toledo Express Airport.

Brian Bergeon, 34, had removed the tire from a jetway, which is used by passengers to walk from the terminal onto an airplane.

He apparently was standing on the tire and trying to remove it from the rim when it exploded Monday, authorities said.

The rim struck him in the head. The cause of the accident was under investigation.

anim_smoke.gif I wonder if he will remember to let the air out next time! anim_thinking.gif
