I believe the biggest problem for unions representing A&P mechanics at major airlines is the requirement

Ummmm not sure what law you are talking about...I know, and have been AMFA at two airlines ...

TIMCO in Lake City, FL is always looking for sheetmetal people. Lake City is about an 1 to 1 1/2 hours away. There are people who work there that live in Jax and Orange Park.

Not sure where you are located but many Major Repair Stations are looking for mechanics and if you have experience but no A&P these places can get you a Repairman Certificate.
