PlaneDoctor™ FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Category: Main -> Help with this site
| Answer | | · I come to the site and log in, but it dosent show that I'm logged in? Computers store internet pages in temporary memory to make frequented pages
load faster. The log in system on this site and basically all others use
cookies to store a couple bits of information about you. This cookie tells
the site that you are a registered user. If you log out of the site using
the "log out" button it will erase this cookie.
To help with your problem there is two things you can do.
1. Don't log out when leaving the site. This will allow the cookie to
remain on your computer and when you come back it will read the cookie and
direct you as a registered user. This will be a security risk if you have
other people using your computer, but since this site isn't a secure area it
really wouldn't matter if you using a personal computer. If your on a company or friends computer then I would recomend to log out.
2. After you log in and go to the next page and it still shows you as a
unregistered user hit the "refresh button" on your browser. If for some
reason it doesn't recognize you after this hold the "CTRL" button down and then hit
"refresh button". This will load a completely new page without using
information stored in your memory.

| | · What is a Cookie? A cookie is a piece of information left on your computer's hard disk by a website to help it keep track of you. Cookies are used for a variety of reasons, from keeping track of purchases on a shopping site, to tracking your clicks through a site, to remembering a site specific username and password for you. So instead of just seeing a generic welcome page, you might see a welcome page with your name on it. Your browser stores the message in a text file called cookie.txt. Usually cookies are completly harmless; for instance, your computer can't get a virus from a cookie. [ Back to Top ]
