ROCKFORD — Emery Air will expand its operations at Chicago/Rockford International Airport to include maintenance of regional jets and hire up to 125 mechanics and technicians over the next two to three years, the Rockford Register Star has learned.
Emery Air provides a variety of aviation-related services at the airport, aircraft maintenance and management to services for passenger airlines. The company currently employs around 120 people and has been growing recently as airport traffic has increased.
Emery CEO Steve Thomas, who owns the company with his wife Tina, said that the business will add a regional airline maintenance facility to primarily serve Canadair regional jets, similar to ones used by United Express at the airport and other regional airlines.
The maintenance facility will be in Emery’s Coleman Hangar, a 54,000-square-foot building on the northeast side of the airport that the company recently spent around $150,000 to renovate.
