Frontier Receives FAA's Highest Honor for Sixth Consecutive Year
Posted on Tuesday, February 08, 2005 @ 08:49:55 EST by deccal
Airline News

DENVER, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Reflecting its commitment to safety and continuing education, Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT - News) is proud to announce that it is the only airline in America whose maintenance department has been awarded the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Diamond Award for the sixth consecutive year.

The Diamond Award is the highest honor given by the FAA and recognizes airlines and other maintenance facilities where at least 25 percent of its aircraft maintenance technicians complete certified training requirements beyond their initial certification. Since 1999, Frontier has far exceeded the FAA's standard, surpassing all other airlines with 100 percent participation of its aircraft maintenance technicians, upholding Frontier's status as the first and currently only domestic air carrier to achieve this distinction.

Each of the airline's 415 maintenance and engineering employees, plus an additional 243 maintenance contractors participated in the program this year, for a total of 658 maintenance and engineering professionals who will be presented with awards. Nearly 70 received a personal Diamond Award for completing two days of training on FAA regulations and policy, 58 hours of aviation maintenance training and at least 40 classroom hours or three semester credits from an accredited college in management, mathematics, English, science or a related subject, for a total of 100 hours of additional training.

"Throughout this very busy year for Frontier, our dedicated maintenance and engineering employees proved once again that safety remains the top priority, with some putting in 100 hours of additional training," said Frontier President & CEO Jeff Potter. "They remain leaders in the industry who are dedicated to maintaining Frontier's impeccable safety record and uncompromising standards."

FAA and National Transportation and Safety Board (NTSB) officials will present Frontier and its maintenance employees with the Diamond Award, as well as the individual achievement awards at ceremonies at the airline's facilities in Denver, Kansas City, and Phoenix.
