Airline News

DENVER, Feb. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT - News) today announced that it will establish a new maintenance facility at Kansas City International Airport (MCI) in Kansas City, Missouri.

The new operation, Frontier's third maintenance facility including Denver and Phoenix, will initially employ 12 mechanics including two avionics technicians, two lead mechanics, seven mechanics and one supervisor, when it begins service on April 1, 2004. The Kansas City operation will support Frontier's seven daily non-stop flights to and from Kansas City including five to Denver and two to Los Angeles, which will commence when Frontier initiates its Los Angeles expansion on April 11.

The Kansas City maintenance team will also support two Remain Overnight (RON) aircraft by performing A-checks and service checks on Frontier's fleet of Airbus A319 and Boeing 737-300 aircraft.

"Frontier's seven daily non-stops to and from Kansas City International Airport make it a critical airport in our system, and its location is central to several of our destinations, making it geographically advantageous for the expansion of our maintenance program," said Ron McClellan, vice president of maintenance and engineering. "In addition, Kansas City is a very popular destination, has a top-notch aircraft mechanic base and a great facility in Kansas City International Airport making it an obvious choice for our maintenance expansion."

"Once again Frontier has great news for the City and the region," said City of Kansas City, Missouri, City Manager Wayne Cauthen. "The announcement of a maintenance operation and the previously announced non-stop Los Angeles flights indicate that Frontier has confidence that it can thrive here. We truly appreciate Frontier's growing commitment to Kansas City."
