 Outsourcing Video excerpts on PlaneDoctor.com

Website News

Today hosted the first summit of aircraft maintenance outsourcing in Washington D.C.

Organized by the Teamsters Union and the Business Travelers Coalition this meeting of the minds introduced a subject that has grown in staggering proportions in the last decade.

As all of us in the Maintenance industry know, the FAA, NTSB and the industry in general are truly concerned about aviation safety.  It also goes without saying that the airlines of the world are not in the best financial shape.  There is a fine line between the perfect world where safety is above all and the real business model companies have to follow.

Everyone understands why companies are moving work overseas…money.  The issue we as technicians need to push is exposing the general public to the loop holds these foreign repair stations are able to use.  The lack of environmental oversight, trained licensed technicians actually doing the work and language issues make overseas contractors just dangerous.

If the general public was made aware of the issues mentioned in this summit they would most certainly agree that their safety and the safety of their family traveling 30,000 feet above the earth warrants the best technician’s money can buy working on their ride.

This issue should be at the top of all unions!  This exposure will not only open the public’s eyes and demand the air carriers to do maintenance in-house, but will also allow our profession to demand better paying jobs.  The general public expects good work and will agree that to get good work you need to pay good wages.

PlaneDoctor.com is proud to make available video excerpts and press releases of this summit.  Access the national summit on aircraft maintenance outsourcing here.

Please look for the announcement that all should be working before contacting me about problem areas.

Thanks

 Audio Module Updated

Website News

I have finally had a little time to upgrade my Audio Module.

I tested this in PhpNuke 6.8 and also 6.0  It now comes with the depreciated Amazon.com code commented out.

If there are bugs found please notify me.

There are two flavors for you to choose.  The full version containing the complete module and the upgraded files that only effect the files that were changed.

Grab them in my downloads area.

A GREAT thanks to UAL_TECH for pointing out that the site was not accepting new members and not allowing members to log in.  UAL_TECH was the only person to mention to me any problems.

The problem is corrected.

 Moving this website
Posted by deccal on Wednesday, June 18, 2003 @ 20:43:15 EDT (329 reads)
Website News

Last Saturday June 14, 2003.  The server this website is hosted on received a major attack from a hacker.  The hosting company had a hard time getting the site back online and kinda screwed stuff up.

Due to this I have decided to move the website to a different host.

I have cut the link from the main domain name www.planedoctor.com.  There still will be some of you that get thru via search engine and so forth, but most will get the message on the home page.  In a few days, hopefully by this weekend I will have everything loaded on the new host.

What a pain in the butt this is, but the new host servers are super fast and support is ausome so you all will have the fasted loading site available.

 Lack of stories
Posted by deccal on Wednesday, June 04, 2003 @ 12:41:42 EDT (295 reads)
Website News

Sorry for the lack of stories posted on the front page lately. I have been very busy with various other projects. Since I am the only one posting News, if I dont do it it dont get done. If you see a article you think others might be interested in you can post it on this site by hitting the "Submit News" link on the menu at the left.

I will probably be putting the Top Aviation News Feed on the front page until I have a little more free time to hunt down good news for this site.
